TangoLife Updates 011320

Hello TangoLovers,

What a great turn out at the Wednesday lesson + practica last week! Was it the New Year resolutions? Was it the Pizza? Whatever, just keep dancing in 2020!

Unless….there’s much snow or ice. Or loss of power. If you don’t feel safe to drive, stay home and practice there! That includes private and group lessons at my home studio (msg me if possible). If I feel it is generally unsafe for most of us to get to Wednesday lesson+practica, I will post a note of Cancellation by 4 pm (or earlier) on the Facebook event which David Beaumier puts out for us. I will also post Cancellation on my website calendar.

That being said, this week is apparently our official winter. I’ll keep you posted re: Wednesday. Tuesday class: Msg me individually. I see there’s more snow predicted from 7 pm tomorrow evening. :-/

On the bright side, we are all grateful that Jeff Westcott has stepped up to host events for all of us! His newest one is Sunday, February 2, and is the kick-off event for his new “UNITY MILONGA”. Music will be all traditional, DJ’s will vary. Held at Bellingham Dance Company’s cozy ballroom with a great wood floor. All levels invited. PLEASE join us! Let’s keep the momentum going! First Sunday’s in Bellingham are back!

TangoLife 100th Milonga

Rebecca’s 100th TangoLife Milonga
Dress to the Nines—Going out in style!
SUNDAY, May 5, 2019, 6:30-10:30 pm
DJ Marina Richter of Vancouver
Majestic Ballroom, 1027 N Forest St, Bellingham, WA
Entrada $15 ($20 CDN)/ $5 college students

On May 5, 2019, Rebecca’s TangoLife celebrates NINE years of hosting one of the finest and friendliest milongas in the Northwest. This will also be the 100th TangoLife Milonga, and as many have heard, it will be a celebration of the FINAL TangoLife Milonga.

This 9-year run of TangoLife has been an extraordinary experience. Such a deep sharing of lives and loves and longings is very significant. We have all contributed to a living, breathing, healing (and dancing!) organism that truly took on a life of its own. A TangoLife, I suppose. The mutual efforts and gratitude we have all shared with each other is the fabric of a healthy society, and warms my heart. I’ve so appreciated everyone’s support and friendship through the years, and the co-creation of a “blended tango community” in Bellingham. After a needed break, we shall see what other shenanigans arise!

I consider this a graduation, not a memorial, so join us on the dance floor! DJ Marina Richter of Vancouver is set to inspire us to new heights and visions as only she can do with her beautifully crafted tandas.

My special request of everyone is this: It will be a very crowded dance floor on this night, so I hope everyone will mind their very best LINE OF DANCE MANNERS, by dancing small, keeping together, with feet near the floor, not passing or interfering with other couples, and staying in your lane. Tango is certainly a cooperative venture, which includes more than just you and your partner. Thank you in advance for this gift!

For those interested, I will still be teaching, and hosting our weekly Practica at the Majestic. Join us sometime! Details on my website: www.TangoLife.biz
